ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION

All students participate in our End of Year Concert and students work on these routines each week in class, developing their skills in the process and learning the importance of rehearsal, commitment, performance techniques and teamwork.

In terms of attendance, it is very important that students do not miss any of their scheduled classes between now and concert time so they can spend their rehearsal time together to perform their routines, feel confident and look amazing. Of course, this is only if it can’t be helped and in line with studio guidelines. If for any reason your child will miss a number of their regular classes in Term 4, we ask that you contact reception to let us know in advance.

If there is any reason why your child will not be able to perform at the concert on the dates and times provided, please let us know so we can make amendments to the class routines involving them.

CONCERT FEE

A concert fee of $65.00 per student will be payable. This will be included in your weekly direct debit on THURSDAY 4TH OCTOBER. Students who have not paid their concert fee will be unable to perform in the concert.

Please note: Costumes are HIRED from the studio and various other hire companies and MUST be returned.

REHEARSAL DAY

Thursday 21st November to Wednesday 27th November

At Katapult Performing Arts we understand that the end of year is a busy time for families and as such we no longer hold a separate full rehearsal day but instead hold a Rehearsal week in normal class time! During rehearsal week students will have full dress rehearsals and run throughs in costume.

Students need to do the following for dress rehearsal week:

Arrive 5 mins earlier for class (if possible) & be picked up 5mins after normal class finish time

Wear Dance undergarments that would be worn on concert day (see further information detailed later in "what to wear")

NO hair or makeup is required

FINALE

Our finale is an absolute highlight of the concert, we love finishing our show with the entire cast on stage to celebrate an epic night! We will have two rehearsals to learn this routine altogether

Saturday 9th November @ Avalon Primary School Hall 2.00-3.30pm

Saturday 23rd November @ Avalon Primary School Hall 2.00-5.00pm (includes a full show rehearsal)

CONCERT DAY PROCEDURES

DROP OFF & PICK UP

On concert day, all of the students will be staying backstage with us for the duration of the concert. Students need to have their hair and makeup done and stockings(if required) on before being dropped off. Check in for students is from 4.30pm and all students are required to arrive no later than 5.30pm. Our onstage rehearsal will begin at 5.30pm.

During the dropping off times, we ask that one parent/guardian comes with their child into the drop off area (you will be directed once inside the venue). Students will need to know what allocated group they are in. See the CONCERT GROUPS & ORDER button below.

All students will need to be picked up from the drop off point after the show. Students will stay in this location.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask us.

SECURITY & STUDENT SAFETY

To help with student organisation and safety, all students will be put into an allocated 'group’. Please see the "show specific info" on this site and make sure your child knows what group they are in.

As always, the safety of our dance family is our #1 priority. On concert day all students will need to be signed in via our security lists to gain access backstage. Only Katapult staff and registered helpers are permitted backstage. All staff and helpers have a valid WWCC. We are unable to run messages or food to students, so please make sure they have everything before they come backstage for rehearsal and the recital/concert. There will be a someone at the door for the entire show. We do this to protect the students, please respect this policy. Please try not to bring anything valuable, especially electronic devices. Mobile phones are not to be taken backstage or in the changing areas during the concert. Our studio will take no responsibility if an item is damaged, misplaced, lost or stolen.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS

If your child has any Medical Conditions that may require attention whilst in our care or are carrying any medication with them, please notify our supervisors when you sign in.

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING

WHAT TO WEAR

COSTUME HIRE POLICY

Costumes are HIRED from the studio and various other hire companies and MUST be returned.

All hired costumes will be taken to the venue on the concert day. No students are to take home any part of their costume at any time. Please make sure your child understands that it is important that their costume goes back in the bag labelled with their name. A fee will be charged for any costumes that are missing or damaged (most damage happens from food stains).

RED CARPET FINALE COSTUME

All students participate in a finale routine at the conclusion of their show/s. Students will be provided with a commemorative t-shirt and can wear any bright coloured bottoms. It can be a tutu, tights, skirt, shorts – whatever they would like! We just ask that it is nice and bright and one solid colour with no prints.

SHOES & STOCKINGS

Tap - Black buckle or lace up tap shoes with black ankle socks

Jazz - Black jazz shoes

Ballet - Pink ballet shoes with pink ballet stockings

Contemporary - No shoes

Lyrical - No shoes

Hip Hop -White sneakers (All Classes!)

Acro - No shoes

Stockings are available for purchase at the studio in the lead up to concert or they are available from any dance shop.

UNDERWEAR

Please be aware that under stage lights, dark coloured or patterned underwear does not look good under light coloured costumes. Please make sure your child is wearing flesh coloured underwear.

HAIR

Dancers will require a Slick High Bun.

You will need to use a lot of hairspray/gel and a fine tooth comb to achieve the slick look and possibly multiple elastics. Please also use an elastic the same colour as their hair. Hair net and bun pins are required for buns. You can purchase all of your hair needs from the shop.

Please note, for boys neat and tidy hair is all that is required. No colours or crazy hairstyles please.

MAKEUP

Stage makeup needs to be heavier than normal day makeup. Please try not to cake it on or make it look like a mask as this does not look natural on stage.

  • Apply make-up base. Foundation needs to be darker than what their normal shade would be. Apply pinkish brown tone blush to cheekbones.

  • Apply brown eye shadow on lid – work from the inside corner along the lash line. You may also like to use white under the brow to highlight.

  • Define the eyes with black eyeliner pencil. Use along the top lash lines.

  • Add lots of black mascara to both top and bottom lashes.

  • Apply red lipstick.

Please note, boys are not required to wear makeup.

JEWELLERY AND NAIL POLISH

No Jewellery is to be worn (including earrings), please leave all jewellery at home. Also, please remove all nail polish.

WHAT TO BRING

FOOD & DRINK

In line with venue rules there is to be NO food in dressing rooms. Please bring a labelled water bottle ONLY.

PACKING CHECKLIST

It is suggested that students bring all of their belongings in a small plastic box. It is much easier than rummaging through a bag. Please write their names all over the box and on everything that they bring, every year we have so many pairs of dance shoes and uniforms lost that are never claimed. Please use the following checklist:

  • Stockings and dance underwear (wear on arrival)

  • Concert t-shirt and coloured bottoms for finale (wear on arrival)

  • Shoes

  • Makeup for touch-ups

  • Extra bobby pins, bun pins, safety pins, hair spray, elastics

  • Water, water and more water

  • Students may want to bring a small quiet game, book or something to keep them amused.

COSTUMES

Costumes are an exciting and important part of our End of Year Concerts. All classes hire out their costume. Please see image for a breakdown of when each style will be processed with your weekly direct debit
